UCU Open 2016
From November 4th till evening November 5th, the UCU Open 2016 will take place in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Being an international tournament, its debates will be held in British Parliament Style and in English. Following five preliminary rounds, there will be semi finals and a final as well as a novice final. The CA team consists of Rebecca Irvine, Nishith Hegde, Clíodhna Ní Chéileachair, Ilija Ivanišević and Ybo Buruma, the convenor is Jelte Schievels. Questions can be directed to ucuopen@gmail.com.

UCU Open 2012
Have you ever been to Utrecht? Well, you should! Here's your opportunity: The UCU Open 2012! The Tournament will be hosted for the third time by the Dutch University College Utrecht (UCU) Debating Union on November 2 and 3.

UCU Open 2011
The UCU Open fits into the series of tournaments in the coming debating season. Hosted already for the second time by the Dutch University College Utrecht (UCU) Debating Union on November 4 and 5, this Open will be "bigger and " according to the org com. Convenor Marlies Hombergen and her team offer five prelims, a semifinal and a final. Registration has already opened (n-1 applies). CA the ESL world champion Anne Valkering (ASDV Bonaparte), reg fee is €25. Crash accommodation will be provided both from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday.

Leiden wins Jacobs open 2011
Becky West and Rogier Baart from the Leiden Debating Union won the Jacobs Open 2011.
Their team Stop trying to make 'fetch' happen as Opening Opposition defeated three other teams from the Netherlands: Jeroen Heun and Daniël Springer (Erasmus Rotterdam), Setry Rabejaona and Liva Andersone (Erasmus Rotterdam) and Danique van Koppenhagen and Tomas Beerthuis (Utrecht Debating Society). Best final speaker as well as top of the tab was Daniël Springer. The tab of the Jacobs Open 2011 is online.

One weekend, many motions

Jens Fischer and Anne Valkering succeed at UCU Open 2010
The team Do not disturb! Seriously!, comprising of Anne Valkering from Amsterdam and Jens Fischer from Berlin won the UCU Open 2010. The competition was held on October 22 and 23 at the University College Utrecht, 36 teams competed over five prelims. Further teams in the final were PTB I (Sam Block and Maddie Grieve), Hot like Mexico, Enjoy (Vignesh Ashok and John Ashbourne) and Erasmus A (Lucien de Bruin and Daniël Springer).
Into the semifinal had also progressed the teams The Real Real Deree (Chris Papadopoulos and Sophia Simunec), Erasmus C (Setry Rabejaona and Milen Petkov), Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ...

University College Utrecht Debating Society invites all debaters to its UCU Open on October 22 and 23, 2010. The tournament will feature 5 preliminary rounds with 5-minute speeches and a beak to semifinals. There will be no separate ESL break, although an extra prize will be awarded to the best ESL team in the tab, just like for the the best rookie team at the tournament. The tournament will be in BP, with spots for about 40 teams. Crash will be provided, so don't forget your sleeping bag and mat!

Unschlagbare Niederländer: Rotterdam und Utrecht gewinnen beim Berlin IV
Teams der Erasmus Debating Society Rotterdam und der UCU Debating Union Utrecht haben die beiden Finals des Berlin IV gewonnen.
48 BPS-Teams traten am Wochenende vom 23. bis 25. April beim Humboldt Berlin IV der Berlin Debating Union an. Besonders viele Deutsche nutzten die kurzen und schnellen Anfahrtswege um internationale Luft zu schnuppern und Berlin zu erleben. Einige Teams hatten allerdings weit längere Wege zurückzulegen und vertraten beispielsweise die Niederlande, Serbien, England und Israel. Dass doch einige Teams gerade von den Britischen Inseln wegen des Flugchaos' absagen mussten, gelangte den meisten der angereisten Debattanten allerdings zum Vorteil.
