USA Blue wins Alfred Tuna Snider WSD Tournament

The team USA Blue (Leila Saklou, Ranen Miao, Shreyoshi Das) managed to win as proposition over USA Red (Nikhil Ramaswamy, Emily Rantham, Piper Doyle) in opposition at the Alfred Tuna Snider World Schools Debate Tournament in New York. The tournament is named as a tribute to the 2015 deceased Alfred C. "Tuna" Snider due to his efforts in promoting debate. Toronto wins the Alfred Tuna Snider World Schools Tournament

The Alfred Tuna Snider International World Schools Tournament was won by Toronto Mix (Sarah Rana, Zain Daudi, Dori Zhoud, Sophie Wu) in Proposition on a 3:2 split decision. They debated the final on the motion "This House believes that the West should not portray ‘’The Great Explorers’’ (e.g. Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama) as heroes" against UTS A (Martine Duffy, Alykhan Jetha, Adithya Chakracarthy, Gautam Manohar; Canada) in Opposition.

IDAS – International Debate Academy Slovenia
From the 22nd to the 30th of November, the 12th International Debate Academy Slovenia (IDAS) will be held in Kranjska Gora and in Ljubljana. In the year before, over a hundred students from four different continents attended the Debate Academy, according to the organisers. The first part of IDAS consists of a training program taking place in Kranjska Gora. The second part from the 28th on will be a tournament in Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital.

International Debate Academy Slovenia
The International Debate Academy Slovenia (IDAS) will be held from November 23rd to December 1st. You can attend the instructional week and the British Parliamentary debate tournament. The weeks consists of a full program for trainers, teachers, coaches, club leaders, judges at any level in any debate format. If not interested in the whole programme, you may apply for the tournament only. The application deadline is the 30th of October. The whole event costs 340 euros, the tournament-only option 80 euros.
Facilities
As displayed by the picture above, participants will be accommodated in Hotel Špik, in the impressive ambient of Kranjska Gora.

“Never miss the Budapest Open again”, advises Teresa Widlok
Teresa Widlok participated for the second time in the Budapest Open and would like to see more German Teams there the next time. Read her report, that will hopefully create a desire to go there.
Whoever said that sequels are always worse than the original was obviously wrong! The second edition of the BP Open, held in Budapest from 1st to 4th March 2013, was an outstandingly well organized tournament which in many ways even superseded its predecessor.
