Leiden wins both finals at Astana EUDC 2020

The Astana EUDC 2020 has come to an end and it has been a successful tournament for the Leiden Debating Union. The Dutch debating society was able to win both the ESL and Open final and topped the ESL speaker awards as well.

Bard wins W*GM Online Debate Open
The Women and Gender Minorities Online Debate Open 2020 was hosted by Livi McAlrea and Emily Xie on the 25th and 26th of July. It featured 68 teams and a break to open quarterfinals and to a novice final. The tournament was founded and initially organized alongside Meehakk Mulani. A panel discussion was organized, and included a series of question and answers as well as broader discussions of womxn and gender minority experiences in debate. The World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) 2019 in Cape Town, which took place 28.12.18-03.01.19, has ended with victories for teams from Sydney, Hebrew Jerusalem and Keio A. The holding of the Open final was accompanied by protests of the Black-African debate community.

What you need to know about the days 2 and 3 of the Cape Town WUDC 2019:
In addition to another three rounds of fierce competition, Day 2 of WUDC culminated in Gender Minorities Inclusion Night and the Women's Forum.
Gender Inclusion Night was open to all and ran past 21.00 O'clock, featuring two professional speakers and four debate community member panelists (including a member of the Cape Town WUDC Adjudication team, Enting Lee) and moderated by the current two Women's Officers, who alternated between asking guided questions and taking questions from the audience.
