This weekend a big experiment started. Seven countries, seven capitals, seven tournaments, one league: The Debating League of Europe.  With the DLE, the European debating circuit could get what the circuit has almost become already anyway: A cohesive debating scene where debaters from all over Europe regularly meet and mingle. The League provides a common framework for keeping track of results of chosen tournaments across Europe to find a winner at the end of a season. Have you ever been to Salzburg? Well, you should visit the beautiful austrian city. A good oportunity to do so could be the Austrian Debating Championship, in German Österreichische Debattiermeisterschaft or ÖDM. The Tournament is to be held on february 8 to 10. Language of the tournament is German, the format will be OPD. At least 15 teams can participate. The tournament is an open. The Association of Debating Societies at Universities (VDCH) has now grown to 73 debating societies. The umbrella association represents debating societies in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Just recently two new debating societies from Austria have become members of VDCH. These are Debattierclub Graz and RedeSalz Salzburg. Debattierklub Wien (DKW) today presented its new logo and a new website. Besides current reports and lots of information for new and old debaters in Austria and everywhere else, the DKW now has a fan shop. The new website offers even more to discover, like new FAQs and a collection of media reports about DKW. Furthermore, two recently unpublished tournament reports are now online (about the Alpencup 2009 and the London Australs 2010). The list of noteworthy links was also overhauled. Die Europäischen Debattiermeisterschaften (EUDC) in Amsterdam stehen kurz bevor, gute Vorbereitung ist nun also Gold wert. Britische Debattierturniere, sogenannte IVs (Intervarsities), bedeuten meist Crash (Unterkommen bei Freiwilligen), ein sehr hohes Debattenniveau und eine Menge Bier. Das sorgte von 19. bis 21. März im walisischen Cardiff nicht nur für einen harten Wettbewerb, sondern darüber hinaus für ein kollegiales Klima - geladen mit Spaß.
