Friedrichshafen/Munich wins first Munich Open

From October 28th till October 30th, the first Munich Open took place after substantial preparations by conveners Katharina Heinrich and Christian Rausch. CAed by Monica Forman, Ben Shaw and Melda Eren, it extended the former trio of important international tournaments in the German circuit (Berlin IV, Tilbury IV, Vienna IV) by a fourth.
Following five preliminary rounds, 'Berlin B' (Stefan Torges & Julian Stastny) , 'Clash and Burn' (Friedrichshafen/Munich, Calyxx Peucker & Philipp Müller), 'Heidelberg Rennehardt' (Benedikt Rennekamp & Martin Reinhardt), 'My minority ...
Munich Open
On October 28-30, 2016, the Munich Open will take place for the first time.
The tournament is international, therefore it will be held under British Parliamentary Style (BPS) rules with English as the spoken language. It consists of 5 preliminary rounds, semifinals and the final. Chief Adjudicators are Melda Eren, Olivia Sundberg Diez and Ben Shaw. The role of the equity officer will be fulfilled by Milla Huuskonen.

MDD 2012: Biggest German language debating competition about to start
The German language debating championship is about to start in Vienna, Austria. Competing for the title are 68 teams from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, or debating societies from Aachen, Bayreuth, Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Frankfurt, Freiburg, Graz, Göttingen, Halle, Hamburg, Hannover, Heidelberg, Ingolstadt, Jena, Karlsruhe, Kiel, Klagenfurt, Köln, Konstanz, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Mainz, Marburg, München, Münster, Potsdam, Regensburg, Salzburg, Stuttgart, St. Gallen, Tübingen, Wien, Würzburg and Zürich.

WUDC 2012: Starting now!
Debaters from all over the world are flocking in to Manila, Philippines. From 27 December 2011 to 4 January 2012, they assemble at De La Salle University (DLSU) to compete for the title of the World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC or Worlds).
From under the roof of VDCH there will be the following debating society competing with around 400 teams from about 70 countries - all in a peaceful competition, the WUDC 2012 or DLSU Worlds:

Berlin wins ZEIT DEBATTE Karlsruhe
Great start into the ZEIT DEBATTEN season 2011/2012 for Berlin Debating Union. Their speakers Georg Sommerfeld, Patrick Ehmann and Johannes Häger won the ZEIT DEBATTE's final against Marco Niedermaier, Lukas Windhager and Almut Graebsch who were competing for Debattierclub München. Georg Sommerfeld was the best speaker of the final. The motion was: Do we need the United Staates of Europe? The final was completed by the free speakers Willy Witthaut (Mainz), Sven Hirschfeld (Heidelberg) and Irene Adamski (Halle). Ten years Debattierclub München
A Golden Jubilee for Debattierclub München? Well, not quite. But this year, Munich's debating society is ten years old, and that is why they invite alumnis and active members to celebrate – of course, by debating.
The jubilee tournament on October 29 and 30 offers four preliminary rounds on Saturday and a public final on Sunday at 11 a. m., besides that there will be a Saturday night social. The prelims will take place at Katholischen Hochschulgemeinde (on the premises of a catholic student group), Leopoldstraße 11, the location for the final will be Vorhölzer Forum (Arcisstraße 21).

DLSU Worlds: First row of VDCH societies registered
Take me to Manila! A first bunch of debating societies from under the umbrella of VDCH know for sure already: We are going to DLSU Worlds in Manila. In the recently published list, the convenors of the World Debating Universities Championships (WUDC or Worlds) at De La Salle University of Manila, Philippines have announced those deb socs followed their slogan “Take me to Manila”.
It is a rough list of registration for DLSU Worlds only, containing many duplicates. But still, seven debating societies from the VDCH circuit made it to that list: Debattierclub Stuttgart, Berlin Debating Union, Debattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz, ...

Mini-Cup in Munich
The debating society of the Bavarian capital, Munich, organizes on Saturday, April 2nd, a "mini-cup". The debates will be held in BPS.
The tournament actually is "mini" because there are provided spots for eight teams in two rooms. After three preliminary rounds, a direct break is planned into the final, the winning team prize beckons as a surprise.

Stuttgart Punk – A teaser on the upcoming ZEIT DEBATTE
After five prelims, team Freiburg Türme, Zsolt Szilagyi and Friedemann Groth, won the final of Stuttgart Punk on the past weekend. The motion read "Dieses Haus würde Vegetarier werden", or this house would become vegetarian. Best speaker of the final was Clemens Fucker from Debattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz. Chief adjudicators Sarah Kempf, Nils Haneklaus and Andreas Lazar made up motions for five prelims and a final:
