In their general assembly, the Debattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz (DCJG) elected a new executive board. Willy Carlos Witthaut is now president. He is flanked by Clemens Fucker as vice president and Andrea Gau as treasurer.

Professors won show debate in Mainz

Do we need Facebook & Co.? Do social networks make our lifes better?  Students and professors debated about these questions at the Debattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz (DCJG)'s show debate on November 9th. While the students - Caroline Moll, Konrad Grießinger and Thore Wojke - tried to convince the audience that Facebook is dangerous and of no use, the professors - former German debating champion Hanna Proner and her collegues Oliver Quiring and Michael-Jörg Oesterle - said that the social networks on the internet are beneficial. Jens Fischer is Master of Masters 2010Jens Fischer won the Masters' Cup 2010 of Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG), the German Debating Society for Alumni. Saturday night he prevailed opposing the motion "This House would operate the Loveparade 2011". His opponents in the final where Sebastian Berg, Lukas Haffert and Patrick Ehmann. Mainz elects new executive boardDebattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz (DCJG) has elected a new executive board. Nicolas Eberle, Western Germany Champion from 2009 will lead the club as President from now on. Sarah Kempf is once again Vice President, entering her third year in that capacity.
