Over the weekend I have been up north, where I heared about a famous debater who could only surpass the fromidable beginning of his speech by his closing remarks. This modus vivendi holds true for the ZEIT DEBATTE Hamburg as well - a tournament which raised a lot of expectations, fullfilled them all and even went far beyond what was expected.

Presidents’ day at the ZEIT publishing house
On October 5 and 6, many presidents of the local debating societies from under the umbrella of VDCH (the Association of Debating Societies at Universities, or Verband der Debattierclubs an Hochschulen) are going to assemble at the publishing house of DIE ZEIT in Hamburg. The main sponsor of the tournament series ZEIT DEBATTEN is going to give insight into the work of the editorial team of one of the largest weekly newspapers in Germany. The debaters are going to talk to the editor-at-large, the chief editors of theprint as well as the online issue and many others.

MDD 2012: Biggest German language debating competition about to start
The German language debating championship is about to start in Vienna, Austria. Competing for the title are 68 teams from Germany, Switzerland and Austria, or debating societies from Aachen, Bayreuth, Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Frankfurt, Freiburg, Graz, Göttingen, Halle, Hamburg, Hannover, Heidelberg, Ingolstadt, Jena, Karlsruhe, Kiel, Klagenfurt, Köln, Konstanz, Leipzig, Magdeburg, Mainz, Marburg, München, Münster, Potsdam, Regensburg, Salzburg, Stuttgart, St. Gallen, Tübingen, Wien, Würzburg and Zürich.

Hamburg wins Berlin Punk 2012
Julian Ohm and Barbara Schunicht from Debattierclub Hamburg won the Berlin Punk 2012. They defeated Andreas Lazar and Roxanna Noll from Debattierclub Stuttgart and two teams from Berlin Debating Union: Jonas Werner and Katja Krüger aswell as Christina Dexel and Lilian Seffer. 11th season of ZEIT DEBATTEN series
The next season of the German debating ZEIT DEBATTEN series is set: the general assembly of VDCH, the Association of Debating Societies at Universities, came together in August and decided upon dates and locations of four ZEIT DEBATTEN tournaments, three regional championships and the German debating championship (MDD) 2012. DDM 2010: Der Break ins Halbfinale
Jubel und Trauer: Nur acht Teams konnten ins Halbfinale der Deutschen Debattiermeisterschaft (DDM) 2010 breaken. Aus den vier Viertelfinals, die zum Thema "Dieses Haus würde die Idee der Einheitlichkeit und Gleichwertigkeit der Lebensverhältnisse in Deutschland aufgeben! ausgetragen wurden, können jeweils zwei Rednerteams auch in der nächsten Runde noch ihr Können beweisen. Hier ist der Break ins Halbfinale der DDM 2010!

It has been a decade now since the first ZEIT DEBATTEN series kicked off with at least five annual tournaments, among them the German debating championship.
