Are you in for judging in China? Then let’s got to Beijing for the FLTRP Cup from 7 to 14 May this year! FLTRP stands for Foreign Languages Teaching and Research Press, the host of the National English Debating Championship in the People’s Republic to be held for the 15th time. The tournament is open to Chinese students only, but since the British Parliamentary Style has not been introduced before 2010, the convenors want to guarantee a certain standard of parliamentary debate by inviting international judges. Those interested may register on the website of the FLTRP Cup.

In 2010, the FLTRP invited some of the world’s most renown judges to support the Chinese debating circuit, among them Sam Greenland (Australia), Stephen Boyle (Ireland), Lars Duursma (The Netherlands), Uri Merhav (Israel), Filip Dobranic (Slovenia), und Justice Motlhabani (Botswana). To stimulate international judges again this year, the convenors packed up some incentives: Transfer from and to the airport, accommodation at the venue (7 to 15 May), meals, accommodation downtown Beijing (14 to 17 May), and tours to Great Wall and Forbidden City (15 and 16 May). On top of that, there is the possibility of partial subsidy for travel costs to Beijing. More information is available on the website of FLTRP and via steve.johnson.alaska[at]gmail.com or fltrpcup[at]gmail.com.
