Only two weeks until Christimas Eve: The debating societies in Berlin and Jena are very curious and arranged on Tuesday 14th December Christmas parties for their members.

The Berlin Debating Union (BDU) not only offers hot spiced wine, gingerbread and candle light, but also debates with Christmassy motions. They also provide non-alcoholic alternatives. The party starts at 8 pm, the venue is Orbis Humboldtianus situated above the Audimax at the main building of Humboldt University Berlin.

The Debattiergesellschaft Jena (DGJ) provides hot spiced wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks and asks all participants to bring something to eat for the buffet. The evening starts with “Schrottwichteln”, which means that everyone has to bring a boxed cheesy, useless or obscene gift. The value should have a maximum of 5 euro. During the evening there is a public drawing of the surprises. For a further enrichment of the event all participants may contribute a creative performance. As a reward there is Power Point karaoke scheduled at the end of the evening. The party starts at 7 pm at seminar room 309 of Friedrich Schiller University, Carl Zeiss Street 3.
